What's NOT Sexy

Generally I like to reserve this space for interesting articles and products that I find sexy. But something has happened in my family that has forced me to need to talk about this with all of you.

Domestic violence.

Yes, I'm sure you've heard alot about it, but have you really........and I mean wholeheartedly....thought about the issue?

Domestic violence touches and destroys lives every day. In this wonderful country of ours 4 million women suffer serious assault at the hands of thier partners in a twelve month period. Worse yet, on average, 3 women die at the hands of their domestic partners daily.

That's DAILY.

There is no excuse for domestic violence. One cannot explain away hurting their partner because they are "stressed out", "drunk" or "just lost their head for a moment." That's BS. Abuse is abuse and you do not need to take it. It doesn't matter how much you love your partner or how many times your partner says they will change, they won't.

What starts as keeping you from your friends and family can evolve into shouting, throwing and breaking things, shoving, verbal abuse and then escalate into physical violence. Don't make excuses for your abuser and never, ever think you deserve it. No one deserves to be hit. Period.

There are people out there who can help. It only takes one phone call.

You are better than that. You are a strong women. You deserve someone who loves, cherishes and honors you. You deserve a loving relationship where violence never comes into play. If you're being abused or know someone who is......get help NOW. Don't be one of the numbers I mentioned above. The longer you stay, the more power you give your abuser.

Domestic violence is NOT sexy.
